BLS / BAS Distribution Area Requirements
The following information pertains only to students enrolled in The University of Iowa's Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) and Bachelor of Applied Studies (BAS) external degree programs. The BLS and BAS programs divide the curriculum into five thematic clusters. In place of a major, students select three distribution areas in which to concentrate their course work.
- GIS courses applicable to these distribution areas are listed below. Semester-based extension courses through Distance Education, on-campus Saturday & Evening and regular daytime classes also may be used to satisfy these Distribution Areas. For additional course options see ISIS at http://isis.uiowa.edu/courses/.
- Course work used to meet General Education Program or BAS Core requirements cannot also be used to meet the BLS or BAS distribution area requirements.
- Interdisciplinary courses have been assigned to more than one distribution area when appropriate. However, each course may be used to complete only one distribution area requirement.
- Upper-level credit (UL) is indicated as appropriate.
